What’s the Release Date of the Sony WH-1000XM6?
The latest flagship WH-1000XM models have historically been released once every 2 years.
- Sony WH-1000XM3 — 9th of October 2018
- Sony WH-1000XM4 — 6th of August 2020
- Sony WH-1000XM5 — 12th of May 2022
Based on the history of the series, the release date for the Sony WH-1000XM6 should be in the summer or fall of 2024.
There is still some time ahead and if you are thinking of buying or waiting for a new model, then we will definitely say take the WH-1000XM4 or WH-1000XM5 and you will not regret it at all. The latest model with a new design, drivers, and features of the Sony WH-1000XM5 presents an intriguing set of headphones among the flagship active noise canceling (ANC) devices on the market. They do their job well in travel (airplanes, trains, buses) or in the office (noisy rooms), in particular.
Will the Series of Sony WH-1000XM6 Be Released?
Sony’s undeniable success in audio is due to the hugely popular WF and WH series of true wireless and in-ear headphones.
Sony has released a lot of headphones over the past two years, starting from the slightly wobbly WF-L900 to the massively updated Linkbuds S. Nevertheless, Sony stays adept when it comes to high-quality audio.
However, Sony has generally been much slower in updating its flagship WH-XM line. The company has yet to confirm the production of the WH-1000XM6, given the popularity of the WH-1000XM5 and the booming nature of the high-end audio space, we’d be very surprised if Sony doesn’t follow up with a release any time soon.
What’s the Price of the Sony WH-1000XM6?
In order to understand what the price of the Sony WH-1000XM6 might be, let’s try to analyze the rise in prices of the previous models at the time of their release.
- Sony WH-1000XM2 – $349 (US) / £330 / $499 (AU)
- Sony WH-1000XM3 – $349 (US) / £300 / $499 (AU)
- Sony WH-1000XM4 – $349 (US) / £300 / $499 (AU)
- Sony WH-1000XM5 – $399 (US) / £380 / $649 (AU)
As you can see from the list above, prices for Sony wireless headphones have remained the same except for the latest model. Many users have complained about the WH-1000XM5’s high price tag, so it’s unlikely Sony will continue to increase the price for the new model. The WH-1000XM6 will most likely be priced at $399 (US) / £380 / $649 (AU).

English is not my native language but I’m quite certain that product release order year 2018, 2020, 2022 is not “twice a year” but _once_ every two years.
Besides not being able to manually disable ANC in the XM5, I found the drivers (which are 10mm smaller) are fine but Sony should have left the larger 50mm drivers that they have always used and used by other manufacturers too.
