Available to this day, the Sonos Sub Gen 3 was released on June 10th, 2020 for $699 US / €799 EUR at launch.
Since then, there has been no official announcement from Sonos or any news or rumors about a release date for the new Sonos subwoofer.
After checking reliable insiders and the corresponding threads on the forums, it became clear that there was no answer anywhere. We will go the other way and take a look at how often Sonos releases its products. With this information, we can assume when the new Sonos Subwoofer Gen 4 will appear.

It can be seen from the list that the models come out with different frequencies. It took 4 years for the company to launch Gen 2, then we see that 4 years have also passed between the release of Gen 2 and Gen 3. If Sonos sticks to its iteration, the Sonos Sub Gen 4 release date will be in 2024. It is unlikely to happen sooner, as the company launched brand new Sonos Sub Mini and Sonos Ray products in 2022.
Why Does a Shortage of Sonos Exist?
Nowadays, there is a global shortage of chips in the world. It’s not surprising since the main causes of the crisis are the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and the deterioration of US economic relations with China.
The Sonos executives said they are trying to mitigate supply chain problems through a range of actions, including shifting delivery of some products to air freight and shifting to more readily available components. The company has already moved some of its production out of China. As a result, executives expect products to be more affordable in 2023.
Despite all these issues, Sonos still managed to end its fiscal 2022 on a high note. The company’s revenue for the 12 months that ended October 2 was $1.7 billion, which is 29% more than the previous year. Net income for the year was $158.6 million.
The Price of the Sonos Sub Gen 4
Let’s take a look at the cost of these speakers at the start of sales. This will give us the opportunity to reflect on the upcoming price of the new model:

We see that prices have remained unchanged throughout the entire time. But it is worth noting that the company raised prices in 2021, apparently due to the relocation of production and a problem with the supply chain.
Therefore, we think that the price of Sonos Sub Wireless Subwoofer Gen 4 at the time of release will be $749. Of course, this may change and Sonos may adjust the price.
The Sonos Sub Gen 4: What We Want to See
We all saw earlier that the changes between Sub Gen 2 and Gen 3 were minor. In Gen 3, processing power, wireless capabilities, and power consumption have been upgraded. We think that in Gen 4 we will see the same thing, the performance will be updated, and the sound will remain the way it is now.
