The Release Date of the Sonos One Gen 3

Let’s talk about whether a new Sonos One 3rd Gen speaker can be released.

There is no official announcement from the company and there are no rumors about this. After studying the corresponding threads on the forums and not finding any answer, it was decided to analyze the chronology of the release of Sonos products to the market. With this information, I can assume an approximate release date.

  • Sonos One Gen 1 – October 24, 2017
  • Sonos One Gen 2 – September, 2019
  • Sonos One SL – September, 2019
  • Sonos One Gen 3 – ? Hmm, should it be 2021 here? Before you get to know about the release date, you should be familiar with a few more facts that prove that One 3rd gen will be released soon.

Full list of current and past Sonos products

Fact 1. We know that since 2019 there is a shortage of chips that has been observed recently around the world. This was influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic, after that – the war in Ukraine, and also the complication of economic relations between America and China. All this indirectly affected the release of Sonos products.

Fact 2. In 2021, Sonos Executives announced their intentions to fix supply issues. To do this, they had to take some measures. The main thing is to transfer the delivery of a number of products to air transportation, as well as switch to more easily accessible parts. Part of the company’s production has already been transferred from China to other countries. Sonos management is looking to increase product availability as early as 2023, stating that the company will release 2 new products per year.

I must say that Sonos does not update its products so often. I already wrote in the article the release date of Sonos Arc 2 where I compared the dates of other products. On average, an update happens every 3-4 years, so the likely release date for the Sonos One Gen 3 is fall 2024.

If you look at the list of technical enhancements that users are expecting, you will notice a few of them and realize that the speaker is technically outdated. And this once again confirms the Sonos One 3 should appear soon.

Important Notice: The estimated release date is based on the release schedules of previous models and should not be considered official. I want to remind you that the actual release date may vary due to a variety of factors, including production delays, changes in company policy, or external economic conditions. I strive to keep the information as current as possible, but for the most accurate and reliable updates, I recommend checking the official Sonos website.

The Price of the Sonos One Gen 3

  • Sonos One Gen 1 – $199 / €229
  • Sonos One Gen 2 and One SL have been released at a discounted price of $169 / €199. But at the moment, the average selling price of all available products is slightly higher.
  • The Sonos One Gen 3 will be priced at $249 / €229 at launch. Of course, this may change and Sonos may adjust the price.

There are no details about the price of the Sonos One Gen 3 yet. Stay tuned to the official website for more information.
